Lorraine “Lori” Valerie Costello, age 95, of Hollister, Missouri

Lorraine “Lori” Valerie Costello, age 95, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away February 19, 2023, with family by her side. She entered this life February 19, 1928, the daughter of Andrew and Violet (Buchuck) Grucella in Chicago, Illinois. Lori was joined in marriage to John V. Costello on July 11, 1979.

With talented hands, Lori crocheted and sewed many beautiful treasures and shared her knowledge with others. She especially enjoyed creating baby clothing. Lori possessed a competitive side that expressed itself through playing card games, going to casinos with John, and bowling, frequently bowling 200-point games. She loved to travel, and through her adventures, she went to Europe and on many cruises. Lori’s affinity for angel wings and butterflies was a testament to her amazing soul. She was a lady who possessed a beautiful, loving heart that brought all her extended family together. The memories and moments created throughout her life will be cherished by all who knew her.

Lori is survived by her husband of forty-three years, John V. Costello of Hollister, Missouri; son, James Scacco of Plainfield, Illinois; stepdaughters: Dr. Kathy (Lyle) Van Buer of Davenport, Iowa, Dawn (Randy) Nissen of Plover, Wisconsin, and stepson, Brian (Shanistie) Costello of Clinton, Iowa; bonus daughter, Vicki Rekemeyer of Rockford, Illinois: grandchildren: Jimmy (Dana) Scacco of Plainfield, Illinois, Gina (Charlie) Schalk of Minooka, Illinois, Ryan (Mary) Van Buer of Davenport, Iowa, Chris (Laura) Van Buer of Champaign, Illinois, Jordan (Nicole) Nissen of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Troy (Jessica) Nissen of Dubuque, Iowa, Brett Costello of Coralville, Iowa, and Brittany Costello of Clinton, Iowa; several great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Harry and Eddie; and two sisters: Julie and Helen.

There will be a memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 1, 2023, at Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W 76 Country Blvd, Branson, Missouri, officiated by Pastor Eric Derks. Lori will be inurned at a later date at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
