Marilyn “Grammy” June Blair, age 90, of Hollister, Missouri.
Marilyn “Grammy” June Blair, age 90, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away October 17, 2022, at home with loved ones nearby. She entered this life August 10, 1932, in Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy (Morton) Curtis.
Grammy was one to set you straight in a heartbeat if she knew you. She was known otherwise as one who would take care of other’s needs with no repayment required. A strong-willed woman from a line of strong-willed women, Grammy was fiercely independent with a stubborn streak. She was always on the move from the time she woke to the time she went to sleep. Grammy always carried her “bear stick,” even though it was not used for walking, but for keeping others in line. She was very funny and loved a good joke, even if she was the subject. Grammy enjoyed living life, eating, and being the life of the party. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Grammy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton J. Blair; son, Jerry Simpkins; infant daughter; and thirteen siblings.
Grammy is survived by her three daughters: Brenda (George) Hornyak of Arlington, Texas, Jacque Ferguson of Fairborn, Ohio, and Patricia Simpkins of Hollister, Missouri; three sons: Charles (Janet) Foor of Toledo, Ohio, Curtis Simpkins of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Jon Simpkins of Hollister, Missouri; close friend and caretaker Terresa Wilburn of Hollister, Missouri; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later time. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
