Mary Patricia Allman (Pat to all who loved her) of Seminole, Florida.

Mary Patricia Allman (Pat to all who loved her) of Seminole, Florida passed away on Sunday June 2, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born on July 7, 1926, in Washington, DC. Pat was married for 57 years to her husband, the late William D. Allman, Jr. (Bill). She and Bill met in a university class when seated in alphabetical order. Pat was also predeceased by her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Brubaker and husband, Daniel L. Brubaker; daughter, Anne Marie Allman and husband, Mike Ito; son, Michael J. Allman and wife, Kathleen Allman; granddaughter, Patricia Brubaker; grandson, Daniel A. Brubaker and wife, Melissa Brubaker; grandson, Mathew Allman and wife, Tanya Otsuka; granddaughter, Emily León and husband, Benjamin León; nephew, David Clancy; niece, Mary Lou Cercopely; and 8 great-grandchildren (with another on the way).

During World War II, Pat worked at Walter Reed Hospital with disabled veterans, engendering her desire to pursue a career in counseling. She received her undergraduate degree in education from Trinity Washington University and taught school in Montgomery County, Maryland. Pat obtained her graduate degree in counseling from the University of Maryland. Pat and Bill moved to Seminole, Florida in the mid 1950’s where she initially stayed home to raise her children. She returned to work for the Pinellas County School system as a guidance counselor at Disston Junior High School. When it closed, she moved as counselor to Nina Harris ESE Center and later to the Richard L. Sanders School. Pat and Bill were also owners of the Hen House Antiques Shop in Seminole, Florida for many years.

She was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole. Pat was a member of the Altar Society and took great pleasure in arranging flowers for the altar. She taught catechism classes and was a member of the choir. Pat made weekly trips to Bon Secours Maria Manor to distribute communion to its residents.

She had many interests. Pat loved to cook, sew, hook, upholster furniture and go to the beach. Pat was a member of the Hearing Loss Association of America (SHHH). She was a “Grand Prize Hooker”, having won numerous prizes for her hooked rugs at the Florida State Fair. Pat gave hooking demonstrations at the State Fair as well as at Heritage Park. Pat and Bill were avid bird watchers, loved to go camping, and enjoyed traveling internationally.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, Florida, with Father Rick Pilger officiating. Inurnment will take place at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024, at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Seminole, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Pat’s favorite charities: the St. Pete Free Clinic, 863 3rd Ave N., St. Petersburg, FL 33701 (hUps://www.thespfc.org).
