Norma Jean "Granny" Cones was born on August 17, 1930 in Miami, Oklahoma to Scott G. Roberts & L.T. Manilla (Youngblood) Roberts, but was later raised by Fred and Edna Rever. She attended school in Baxter Springs, Kansas and graduated high school there in 1948. She invested her life in her family and cherished time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma had resided in Carthage and Golden, MO. She loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers. She made cherished crochet and knit items and enjoyed antique shopping in her free time.
Norma went home to be with Jesus on February 8, 2022 at Cox Medical Center Springfield at the age of 91 surrounded by her family.
She married Burel Cones on April 4, 1972 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bud Roberts; sisters, Bonnie Wimbish and “Reet” Young and her children Randy DeBurger, Roger DeBurger and Rhonda Gideon and grandson Mark Jones.
Norma is survived by her granddaughter, Tuesdi Raines (Jerry); her step-grandchildren, Wendi Brower (Andy), Chandi DeWeerd and Dondi Walker (Ted); her son-in-law, Jerry Gideon; step-daughter, Lynne Mitchell; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Bible Baptist Church, 800 S. Baker Blvd, Carthage, MO with Pastor Will Seagraves officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
