Obituary

Olen Charles Tate

February 23, 1972 – February 8, 2023

Olen Charles Tate of Kissee Mills, Missouri was suddenly taken from this world on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. He was comforted by the loving embrace of his father, wife, and youngest daughter as he passed peacefully into the arms of God.

Born on Wednesday, February 23, 1972, in Frankfurt, Germany, Olen lived a life filled with laughter, love, and purpose, until his untimely passing at the age of 50.

In honor of Olen's life, a commemorative gathering will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for loved ones to come together and celebrate his legacy.

Olen's memory will live on through the love and support of his surviving family members, including his father, Olen L. Tate, mother, Joyce Tate, father, Raymond W Scott, brother, Mike Tate, sister, Angela Gordon, brother Raymond Scott, and brother Nick Scott. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Scott (Jung).

Olen's legacy continues to thrive through the lives of his seven children, Brandon, Peyton, Samantha, Morgan, Bradley, Jacob, and Austin. Although he is no longer physically present, his memory lives on through the love and laughter of his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Draven, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Olen blazed a trail of excellence at Forsyth High School, where his athleticism was unparalleled as he immersed himself in a multitude of sports. His skills were unmatched as he soared to glory, clinching the title of state champion in forestry with ease. Time has stood still, and to this day, the records that Olen set in basketball remain unbroken, cementing his legacy as a true champion.

Olen and Tina M. Pyle's paths crossed in Ottawa, Kansas, igniting a flame of love that would ultimately lead to their union. On January 2nd, 2014, they exchanged vows in a heartwarming ceremony, officially becoming one. The beginning of their journey together was marked by love, joy, and a commitment to forever.

Olen devoted the majority of his life to the hard work of a laborer, yet it was construction that ignited his passion. With expert precision, he mastered the art of hanging and finishing sheet rock, becoming a true master of his craft.

Olen found solace and serenity in the beauty of nature, where he relished the chance to fish and go camping. A lover of guns and hunting, he was also passionate about muscle cars, spending countless hours tinkering with engines. Sports were a deep source of joy and excitement for him, fueling his fervent fandom for the Chiefs. Not a single game went by that he didn't watch, as he recited stats and anecdotes with encyclopedic knowledge. In his downtime, he indulged his love for puzzles, displaying a remarkable talent for these complexes and challenging games.

Olen proudly proclaimed himself an "expert" in the art of grilling, where his love for smoking and cooking meat was unrivaled. He took great pleasure in sharing his delicious creations with his family, delighting their taste buds with each bite. With a rare talent for making meat tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection, his skills on the grill were unmatched, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Olen's memory will endure through the countless stories we all have of him, each one a testament to his unique spirit and the life he lived on his own terms. Although he may be gone, he will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His loss is deeply felt, but his memories will be treasured forever.

Cremation is under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Missouri.
