Patricia Ann (Carrington) Garrett, 72, of Battlefield, MO

Patricia Ann (Carrington) Garrett, 72, of Battlefield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2021, with family by her side. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday July 25, 2021, at Campbell United Methodist Church in Springfield, Missouri.

Patty was born in Miller, Missouri, on April 5th, 1949, to Melba and Ed Carrington. She attended Miller High School and later graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Arwood "Butch" Garrett, June 9, 1973, in Miller, Missouri. Patty dedicated her early career as teaching high school and the majority of her professional life as a working as nutritionist with pregnant and new mothers. She was an early advocate of the kale revolution yet had a healthy appetite for sweets as was evident with her special talent for making sugar cookies.

Patty was very involved in many civic and religious organizations. She was a fifty-plus-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a past Grand Officer. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary serving as state president in addition to many other local and state offices. Patty was also active in Eight and Forty as a national officer and former Chapeau. She served as president for Master Gardeners and several other board offices. Her hobby organizations included a local doll club and quilting group. Patty was an active member of Campbell United Methodist Church. She went on two mission trips to Nicaragua with the Rainbow Network and sponsored the education expenses for several children in that country. She was a dedicated volunteer in many organizations and food banks including serving as the volunteer manager at the Missouri Rehab Center gift shop for many years.

Patty was accomplished in so many different areas. She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress, and exceptional with embroidery work. She was an avid gardener and most importantly, was a dedicated mother and grandma.

Patty is survived by her husband, Butch; daughter, Brandy and husband John and their three children: Garrett, Luke, and Kira; son, Bo and his wife Anna; mother, Melba; and brother, Lee.

Memorials may be given to The Rainbow Network and Jacob's Ladder in Springfield (https://jacobsladdercare.org.) The family of Patty wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Jacob's Ladder who cared for Patty and her family in her final days with such love and grace.
