Reba May Brown, 93, Kirbyville, went to be with her Lord on March 4, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson, Thursday March 10 at 11AM. Pastor Jeff Wilcox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
Reba May was born May 23 1928 in Kirbyville, Mo. She was the daughter of Ivy and Tilda (Stafford) Brown. She graduated from Branson High School and futured her education by receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield; her Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri, Colombia, Mo. Reba started teaching at North Bee Creek School, a one room school teaching grades 1-8. At the North Bee Creek School, she was also in charge of the heat and cool which she did by building fires in the cool weather and open all windows and doors in the heat. She went to White Oak School at Moore Bend teaching three years then on to Kirbyville school teaching for 9 years and in 1953 Branson School system where she began teaching combined grades 3rd & 4th then the rest of her teaching time, she taught 3rd grade. She had taught 47 ½ years when she retired from Branson in 1994. Her students will remember her for her knowledge, taking time for individual instruction, kindness and always making a large Santa with the class each Christmas.
She loved music and was often invited to sing at events. Reba was a lifelong resident of Kirbyville. She was a member of the St. James Baptist Church, Kirbyville and attended the Branson 1st Baptist Church later in life.
Reba was preceded in life by her parents Ivy & Tilda Brown.
She is survived by several cousins and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 10AM till service time at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
