Reverend Kurt Donald Nantz

Reverend Kurt Donald Nantz was born on July 27th, 1964 to Glen and Rosanne Nantz in LaGrange Oregon.

He un-expectantly left this world to enter his heavenly home on March 30th 2022 in Kissee Mills, Missouri at the age of 57.

A celebration of life service will be held at Open Door Community Church in Cedar Creek, Missouri on April 7th 2022 at 5:00p.m. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Officiated by the Reverend Isaac Pederson.

Kurt grew up in North Powder, Oregon and attended all 13 years of school there and graduated in 1982 from North Powder High School. He was involved in speech and debate and youth leadership within the Methodist Church. Later in life, Kurt obtained a bachelor’s degree at Missouri State University, magna cum laude with a degree in Technical Writing.

As a teen, Kurt helped his dad Glen Nantz with an auction service as an auctioneer, and owned a bookstore. He has always had a passion for books from a very young age and if anyone wanted advice on the value of a book they would seek Kurt out. His love for books was evidenced in all the books he read.

On August 12th 1989 Kurt married the Love of his life Marvalie Veda Fern Collins Nantz. They were truly best friends. When people thought of Kurt they thought of Marvalie and when they thought of Marvalie they thought of Kurt. They would have been married 33 yrs in August. To this union was brought 2 boys Nathan and Nicholas Nantz, however Kurt was like a father figure to many other children and teens through his life as he and Marvalie welcomed other children into their home.

Kurt was an amazing father as many people remember. He would do anything for his children. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf and swim with his boys.

He was a coach for soccer with the YMCA, taught Awanas, children’s church and was a youth pastor. He belonged to the Kiwanis Club in Pendleton, Oregon, was involved in Autism activities and worked with children as a substitute teacher. Although Kurt worked various jobs to support his family and have time to help care for his boys, teaching was his favorite job. He loved the kids he worked with. Most of all Kurt was in love with Jesus. He was saved in the United Methodist Church at  a young age and continued to serve him. Kurt was ordained in the ministry in 1996 and had been busy working in many capacities of service to the Lord ever since. He loved to sing and worship the Lord and Loved the Word of God with a passion. He was a member of Open Door Community Church in Cedar Creek, Missouri where he served as a deacon.

He is preceded in death by his father. Glen Leroy Nantz.

He is survived by his wife, Marvalie Nantz Kissee Mills Mo; children, Nathan Glen Amiel Nantz and Nicholas Kurt Nantz both of Kissee Mills, MO; mother, Rosanne Fox of Forsyth, MO; siblings, Candace Butler and husband, Dave of Theodosia, MO, Suzanne Prater of Merriam Woods, Mo, Edward Kornoely of Kennewick, WA, Monica Webster and husband, Larry of Benton City, WA, Debra Andrews and husband, Brian of Lewiston, Id, Mark Collins and wife, Melissa of West Richland, WA, Merilyn Stredwick and husband, Carl of West Richland WA., Myra Porfily and husband, Chad of Portland Or; numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Open Door Community Church Teen Challenge of the Ozarks, and Camp Barnabas.

Cremation is under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
