Richard Shelby "Uncle Bud" Jenkins, age 87, of Branson, Missouri
Richard Shelby "Uncle Bud" Jenkins, age 87, of Branson, Missouri, was called home to be with his Lord on April 21, 2022.
Richard was born on October 19, 1934, to Walter and Lola (Cross) Jenkins near Golden City, Missouri. After growing up in Boston, Missouri, Richard graduated from Lamar High School in 1952. That same year, he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Lee Scritchfield, of Ash Grove. Richard and Bonnie had a daughter, Vivian, in 1953.
Richard was an industrious man with a true Midwest work ethic. He owned Tri-County Gas Service in Golden City for over thirty years. He also owned Jenkins Real Estate and other businesses in Golden City. He was an employee of O'Reilly Auto Parts for nearly twenty years.
As an active member of his community, Richard co-founded the Golden City Ambulance Service and served as its supervisor for many years. He held a funeral director's license and assisted at Pugh Funeral Home. He also served as a member of the area Rotary Club, Civil Defense, and other organizations. Richard and Bonnie were active members of Grace Baptist Church in Golden City. In recognition of his active role in bettering the community, Richard was awarded the Governor's Honor.
After retirement, Richard and Bonnie moved to Branson, Missouri, where he worked in real estate, and several theaters.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Walter; his mother, Lola; his siblings: Everett, Arvid, Eldon, Lorene, and Lavonna; and his daughter, Vivian. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Branson, Missouri; grandson, Shelby Solomon of Wylie, Texas; and by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
