Robert Eugene Catron

Robert Eugene Catron, age 92, Cassville, Missouri

Robert Eugene Catron, age 92, was born on May 26, 1931 in Washburn, Missouri and died on June 12, 2023 in Conroe, Texas.

Robert was the son of Ora and Maye Catron and the oldest boy of their seven children. He is survived by his wife, Oleta; daughter, Paula; son, Bob; daughter-in-law, Katie; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond and Oren and sisters, Shirley and Caroline.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgie and brother, Gene.

Robert graduated from Washburn High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 1952.  He and Oleta (Hooten) married in 1957 where she began her journey as a career military wife.  He loved the military and the many opportunities it offered him to travel and learn.  Robert rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (only 2% of enlisted personnel are allowed by law to hold this rank) before retiring in 1976. He then continued his association with the Air Force by working in a civilian position for almost another decade at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Robert and Oleta returned to Missouri for almost the next 30 years to be close to their many friends and family members.  He raised cattle, helped others and met many generations by driving an Exeter school bus.  Robert and Oleta moved to Conroe, Texas in 2016 to be closer to grandkids.  Robert continued ranching in Texas at the family property daily until his death.

Robert was known for being honest, diligent with work and kind towards everyone.  His word was his bond and he always strived to do the right thing.  He will be missed by the many people he met in his 92 years.  His favorite bible verse was Psalm 23 - and he surely now dwells in the house of the Lord forever.

No services are scheduled at this time. Burial will be at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
