Robert Milligan Ewing (February 19, 1948-February 27, 2025)
“For life and death are one, even as the river and sea are one. In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond; and like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring. Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.” The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran.
A scholar, a writer, an intellectual, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, this was Robert (Bob) Ewing. He was a genetically programed lover of automobiles and motorcycles, trained in the study of American and British literature; hopeless romantic, and staunch conservative.
Bob was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Margaret Nichols Ewing and Roy Milligan Ewing Jr. His boyhood days were spent roaming the neighborhood with his friends and playing on he shores of the Arkansas River. His kindergarten teacher told his parents that he was “true genius.” He loved learning about the history of Tulsa, and the history of his family. He was an expert in choosing fine antiques and he was a magnificent craftsman.
Bob married Toni Domingos Ewing in 1978 and they enjoyed 46 wonderful years of marriage. Together they had a daughter, Catherine Lee, and a son, William Layne. He was always by their side enjoying their involvement in ballet, football, lacrosse, and cheerleading. He was a teacher and guidance counselor and later a technical training and curriculum developer for Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Corporation, and Toshiba. The family lived in southern California until retirement when they moved to Branson, Missouri. There, Bob taught English at Ozark Technical Community College.
He was devoted to his grandchildren and taught them Shakespeare, poetry, and rules of life.
Bob was preceded in death by his son. He leaves grandchildren Adrian Robert Truesdell, Stella Layne Bratcher, and Holden Nash Bratcher, his daughter Calee and her husband Malen Bratcher of Branson.
