Rolland "Rolly" Francis...
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rolland Francis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, on September 4, 2024. Rolly’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and dedication, and we were privileged to know him and feel his loss deeply.
Born on July 23, 1942, Rolly grew up on a farm in Applegate, Michigan, which sparked a profound desire to understand how things worked and eventually led him to become a master electrician. After working at Detroit Edison for many years, he and Pamela moved their family to the Ozark Mountains.
His expertise in his craft was unparalleled, but it was his kindness, quick wit, endless humor, and unwavering integrity that truly set him apart. Rolly was not only respected by his colleagues but also cherished as a mentor and friend. His ability to solve the most complex electrical and mechanical problems was matched only by his willingness to lend a helping hand, whether it was to a coworker in need or a neighbor down the street. He had a part in the building of many of Silver Dollar City’s local attractions.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rolly took immense pride in the accomplishments of his descendants, always offering guidance and support, even as he held them to high standards. As they married and his family grew, he was welcoming and open, the first to include someone new as if they’d always been his own. Rolland’s family and friends will remember him for his steadfast nature, his strength, and the love that underpinned all his actions. He leaves behind a legacy of respect and love and the indelible mark of a life lived with purpose.
Rest in peace, Rolland Francis. Your life was a beacon of strength and love, and your memory will live on in the hearts of those you touched.
