Ronald Calvin Hawkins, age 81, born in Kennett, Missouri, on June 17, 1940, to Heman and Florence (Riley) Hawkins, passed away on November 13, 2021, in Wharton, Texas.
Ronald was proceeded in death by his parents Heman and Florence Hawkins along with his brother Dale Hawkins. Ronald is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary (Chancellor) Hawkins; siblings: Rowena Smith, Ruth Mavoy Hirst, Lloyd Hawkins, and Floyd Hawkins, all of Independence, Missouri. Children --May Florence Hawkins and grandson Perry Jordan. Stepchildren: Monte Scott, Marilyn Ball (Jimmy), Anita Franklin (Gary), and Sheryl Vick-Spease (Chris). Grandchildren: Nathan Kilgore (Shelby), Nancy Kilgore, Heather Bucklew (Joel), Aaron Spease (Haley), and Beth Mead (Zachary). Great-grand Children: Jazmyn, Peytan, Penelope, Zoe, Paige, Cora, Billy, Harper, Nellie, Scott, and Benjamin; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Ronald attended William Chrisman Highschool in Independence, Missouri. Following his junior year, Ronald joined the US Army and served for 7 years. Upon his return, he began his career at Lake City Ammunition Plant, and later went to work for Allis-Chalmers where he retired after 29 years.
Ronald enjoyed traveling and showing parrots after his retirement, along with his love for collecting miniature children’s cars and owls. He also took great pride in landscaping and gardening.
