Ronnie Johnson...
Father, grandfather and friend, Ronnie Johnson, passed away at the age of 73 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Ronnie Cliff Johnson, known by family and friends as “Red”, was born on July 12, 1951 in Harrison, Arkansas. He was the son of William Clifford Johnson and Nellie Jane (Hurley) Johnson. Ronnie grew up in Branson, graduating from Branson High School in 1969. His working career began as a young man, working in his dad’s body shop in Forsyth, Cliff’s Body Shop. He also worked at his father-in-law’s furniture store, Branson New and Used Furniture. He then spent many years working in the telephone industry. He began working in the warehouse for Contel in Branson then became a lineman. His career took him to St. Louis and Dallas with Contel as the company was acquired by GTE and later Verizon. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America and served as the vice-president of Local 6171 while in Texas. Red retired from Verizon and moved back home to farm cattle in northern Arkansas. During his later years, he eventually moved to a quiet and wooded piece of property close to his best friend Jess Dalton (JD) in Kirbyville to enjoy the outdoors, peaceful living, family and friends.
Ronnie Red will certainly be remembered for his great personality. Making people laugh was always one of his goals. He enjoyed strolling around town striking up conversations with anyone who would make eye contact and getting chuckles out of his newfound friends. He had many great memories and stories of times being outdoors, playing with his dogs and floating the rivers in Missouri and Arkansas. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter Moose and hanging out at local establishments to visit his friends during the evenings. Red was also a proud part of the Masonic Lodge in Forsyth. Everyone that met Ron was left with a lasting memory.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter Kim “Moose” Euliss and her husband Ryan of Columbia, MO; his granddaughter, Layton Euliss of Dallas, TX; former wives, Gladys Faye (Williams) Johnson of Naples, FL and Patsy (Graham) Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana along with his extended family members and his many friends.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and spouse Jan (Rushing) Johnson.
The family will hold private graveside services in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
There will be a celebration of life for friends at a later date.
If Ronnie saw someone praying over their meal at a restaurant, he would always pay for their meal in a gesture of kindness. In his memory, instead of sending flowers, we encourage you to do the same the next time you're at a restaurant and take a moment to remember Ronnie.
Memorial arrangements were in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
