Thomas Scott Flaxbeard, age 60, of Overland, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.
He was born December 4, 1960 in Monett, Missouri, the son of Dale and Nancy (Croddy) Flaxbeard. On October 22, 2016 in Shell Knob, Missouri he was united in marriage to Dana Garland, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Nancy Schaefer and her husband Richard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one son, Zachary Flaxbeard and his wife Laura of Osawatomie, Kansas; one daughter, Zoey Flaxbeard of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Chuck Flaxbeard and his wife Mandi of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three sisters, Becki Brown and her husband Mark of Homer, Louisiana and Beth Grounds and her husband Dave of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Susan Schaefer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Peceding him in death were his father and one brother, Larry Flaxbeard.
Thomas graduated from high school in Jenks, Oklahoma in 1979 and later attended college. In 1984 he moved to the St. Louis area. He was employed as a customer service representative for DRiV Incorporated, a global supplier of automotive products and services. Coming back to his lake house in Shell Knob was something he always looked forward to—it was his place to fish, enjoy wildlife, and spend time with his family. He also loved the opportunity to visit his family in Broken Arrow over the holidays. He always had a competitive yet fun approach to the many games he and his family played, from Pitch to Trivial Pursuit. He loved the outdoors and fishing and joined in on yearly fishing trips with family. He loved sharing stories about the time and experiences on these trips, from catching Northern Pike in Northern Canada to the beautiful smallmouth and largemouth caught from his favorite fishing spots on Table Rock Lake. He decorated the lake house with photographs of wildlife found in the area. He held a soft spot for dogs as well—Peaches was his sidekick and they were inseparable. He adored the bond shared with dogs and never met a dog he did not instantly fall in love with. Hockey was a passion and he loved the St. Louis Blues. He witnessed the first Stanley Cup victory for the Blues and celebrated by decorating a room in his lake house, designated “The Blues Room.” He was always dedicated above all else, to his family. He placed family before himself and was always there to support those around him. His values, selflessness, charisma, and laugh was infectious and bettered those with whom he interacted. His presence will be tremendously missed, yet he will always be with us.
Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
