Virginia “Marie” Barrows, age 83, of Forsyth, Missouri.
Virginia “Marie” Barrows, age 83, of Forsyth, Missouri, went to Heaven on January 27, 2025. She had a strong will, and she refused to enter a nursing home or to go on to hospice. She entered this life on January 1, 1942, the daughter of Roscoe and Mildred (Harris) Mahan in Brixey, Missouri. Marie moved to Wyoming at a young age, where she met and married the love of her life, David “Dave” Dall Barrows.
With a daring spirit, Marie was always up for an adventure. She knew how to have a good time, whether it be playing penny machines at the casino, going to a rock concert, or to just looking for her holey rocks. When she was not doing one of those things she enjoyed watching her birds, especially the cardinals, and looking at her pretty flowers. Marie loved listening to her LOUD rock music.
She worked many jobs over the years, but her favorite job was waitressing. Marie was gifted with the ability to talk to anyone, which made her great at her job. She worked for Sadie’s Sideboard in Branson, Missouri, for over 25 years and when asked she would tell you it was her favorite place to work. Marie didn't retire from waitressing until she was over 70 years old. She loved people, and if you got her talking, you might as well pull up a chair because you weren't leaving anytime soon.
She was a Hippie at heart and loved her bell-bottomed jeans and her jewelry, and her favorite saying while waving a peace sign was “Right on.” However, her greatest love was her family. The memories and moments created over her incredible life will be cherished by all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her children: Rocky of Forsyth, Missouri, Monty of Branson, Missouri, Dana of Edwards, Missouri, Minnie, Scott, Judy, and Shanon, all of Wyoming; grandchildren: Heather, Monty Ray, Lisa, Nicole, Travis, Troy, Miranda, and Chandra; as well as other grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other extended family too numerous to mention. She is also survived by her sisters: Shirley, Barbara, and Louise; brother, Gene.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dave; two brothers: John and Slim; and sister, Linnia.
