Wendell Calvin Gray, age 80, of Marshfield, MO
Wendell Calvin Gray, age 80, of Marshfield, Missouri, passed away July 24, 2021, in Springfield, Missouri. He entered this life May 12, 1941, in Kimball, Nebraska, the eldest son of Calvin and Leta (Davis) Gray.
Wendell was a devoted member of the Providence Seventh Day Adventist Church in Springfield, Missouri. He could be found studying his Bible, working with his tomato plants, visiting with friends, or going on walks and drives with his daughter, Michelle, and her dog, Tootie Frootie, to whom he was “grandpa” and her favorite person. Wendell worked as a stone mason for most of his working years, and then as a courier later in life, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the people on his route and in the terminal until his first mild stroke in December 2017. He has touched many lives over the years and will be remembered fondly for the love and care he shared.
Wendell is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wilbur and Winston Gray; aunt and uncle: Mildred and Merle Davis; and grandmother, Kumi Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Gray of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Teresa Wilde and husband Trent of Ontario, Canada; former wife and friend, Lynn Gray of Marshfield, Missouri; two nieces, two nephews, and four cousins along with their families, all of the Springfield area.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time at the Providence Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1402 N Prospect, Springfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Providence Seventh Day Adventist Church in Springfield, in care of Brenda at 417-224-0205.
