William “Bill” Joseph Stahl, 80, Hollister, MO.
William “Bill” Joseph Stahl, 80, died peacefully at his home in Hollister, MO, on October 11, 2024, following a brief illness surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.
Bill was born on February 20, 1944, to Frank and Kathryn Stahl in Garnett, KS. After Bill graduated from Westphalia High School in 1962, he went on to study at the community college in Iola Kansas, now known as Allen County Community College.
During his career, Bill worked at Santa Fe Railroad as a signalman, KDOT as a senior engineer, CertainTeed, where he began as a warehouse stockman and then impressed his boss so much with his problem-solving skills that he got promoted and relocated to Lubbock, TX,
Daniels Construction where he helped build the Wolf Creek Power Plant, and then as a Pastor at Northcott Church in Colony, KS. He also went on numerous missions trips to Arizona, taking supplies to Widow’s Mite, his last trip there on his honeymoon with wife, Anita, in 2013. At the time of his death, Bill was working as an evangelist, alongside his wife Anita, and was an active member of the CGMA, Country Gospel Music Association, where Bill and Anita received the Golden Heart Award, International Evangelist of the Year, in 2023.
Bill married Mikell Dian McGhee on Nov. 2, 1963, and they went on to have three children, Lisa, Michelle and Justin and later adopted daughter Shanna who died in 2011. Mikell died in 2006 and Bill married his current wife Anita on Nov. 23, 2013.
Bill is survived by his wife Anita; children Lisa (Wes) Sherwood of Colony, KS, Michelle (Michael) Lash of Ashboro, NC, and Justin (Eugenia) Stahl of Hopkins, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Jon (Lisa) Sherwood of Leroy, KS, Marissa (Chris) Foley, Gage and Jaxx of Webb City, MO, Rebekah (James) Atzbach, Kinsley and Jameson of Colony, KS, Jourdan (DeVondre) Sullivan, Naviyana and Zenovia of Wichita, KS, Judah Wilkinson currently stationed in Germany, Michael Christiansen, Pocatello, ID, Kassady (Michael) Cooper of Idaho Falls, ID, Keynan Stahl of Iola, KS, Ben (Kathleen) Tressler, Grayden and Fintan of Lancaster, CA, Joe (Sara) Tessler, Scarlett and Sutton of Lawrence, KS, Alyssa (Zac) George, Hoyt and Holden, Neosho Falls, KS, Michael (Bailey) Bruner, Lenexa, KS, Karyssa Bruner and Michael of Neosho Falls, KS; step-children Kevin (Pamela) Slinger of Naples, FL, Rick Slinger of Ft. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Kathryn Stahl, wife Mikell, brothers Edward Stahl and Robert Stahl, brother in law Tom Slater, sister in law Donna Stahl, adopted daughter, Shanna Stahl Bruner, grandson, Isaac, and step-great grandchildren, Kylea and Huxton.
Services will be held at Faith and Wisdom Church, 3950 Green Mountain Dr, Branson, MO, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 1:00pm, officiated by Dr. Mike Brown and Dr. Anthony Slinger.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorials be directed to the family to help cover last expenses.
