William “Bill” Waibel, Jr. was born on October 23, 1937 in Swedesboro, New Jersey to William Waibel, Sr. and Huldah (Dietrich) Waibel.  He grew up on his family’s farm in New Jersey.  After high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War.  After his discharge from the Marine Corps, he made his home in Kansas City where he worked as a milkman. In his time delivering milk, his path crossed with the endearing Marilyn (Mason) and the two were married in 1975.

Bill’s career path took him from the dairy business into grocery distribution.  He worked for Associated Wholesale Grocers in Kansas City for 26 years before retiring to Branson.  After moving to Branson, his drive to stay active and be productive led him to working at White Oak Station on Gretna Road.  His outgoing demeanor and friendliness earned him the nickname, “White Oak Mayor of Branson.” He worked at the White Oak Station for 26 years.  He truly loved people and had a wide circle of people who knew him and loved him back.  His care and concern for others was driven by his faith.  He loved God and loved his church family.  He served as a Deacon at Skyline Baptist Church many years and later was a member of First Baptist Church, Branson.  Bill will also be remembered for the joy and interest he found in sports.  Being from Kansas City, he always rooted for the Chiefs and the Royals and had been an usher, part of the “Red Coats”, many seasons at Arrowhead Stadium.  He also cheered for the Missouri Tigers in basketball.

Bill entered into Heaven on May 9, 2024 at the age of 86.  He left a legacy of how to follow Christ, love others, and live life to the fullest.  His love, guidance, friendliness, and the joy that surrounded him will always be remembered by his family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Waibel, III; and daughter, Melanie Smith.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Marilyn Waibel of Branson; his children, Joanna McBride (Sean) of Temecula, CA, Jenny King (Brian) of Tipton, IA, Bill Harness of Branson, Cynthia Noblit of Surprise, AZ and Dennis Harness of Sedona, AZ;  his brother, Fred Waibel (Connie); sisters, Carol Burns (Bill) and Kitty Ganzel; along with his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, 3196 E. State Hwy 76, Branson with full military honors.

Cremation is in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
