William Lee Hutchins was born April 4, 1941, in Kansas City, MO to Jack Hutchins Sr and Margaret Loise (Welty) Hutchins. He entered into rest on December 4, 2024, at the age of 83, in Branson, MO surrounded by his wife, daughter and six grandchildren.
William attended Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army, here he wrote for the Stars and Stripes. William was a journalist for different newspapers for many years. He met his first wife Bonita Shoop and the Army took them to Denver, Colorado where he worked at the Denver Airport in the tank farm. He was married to Bonita until she passed in 2010.
Years later William searched for his high school sweetheart Meredith Sever whom he reconnected with on December 5, 2011. William married Meredith Sever on February 14, 2012, in Tacoma, Washington. They celebrated 12 years together this past winter.
He was a member of the Linwood Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO.
William was active in the Boyscouts and stayed through becoming an Eagle Scout. While stationed in the Army in Korea he started a Scout Troop on base and had quite a few boys in the troop, mainly the sons of officers. William liked doing almost anything to do with the outdoors, such as yardwork, taking pictures of wildlife and nature, tinkering with small projects in the garage and spending quality time with family and friends.
William was a wiseman, conversant in many subjects of interest. A short greeting often morphed into a lengthy presentation.
He was proceeded in death of his first wife Bonita Shoop Hutchins and his parents.
William is survived by his loving wife Meredith of the home, one daughter Julie Denney of Branson, four brothers Gordy, Jack, Steve all of Washington State, Chuck of California, one sister Nina Siwek of Arizona, six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Celebration of life service at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson, December 19, 2024, 2PM with visitation starting at 12 PM. Military Honors being provided by the United States Army and Branson Veterans of America #913.
